There will be two new principals in the Georgetown County School District when classes resume after summer break.
As reported previously, Maudest Rhue-Scott is retiring from Sampit Elementary School at the end of June.
This week, Waccamaw Middle School principal Bill Dwyer announced he is also leaving at the end of the school year.
Dwyer has been principal at the school since 2008 and is getting out of the education field.
Dwyer will be a partner in a startup company, Gray World Solutions LLC, a financial planning and asset protection company.
The company has offices in Chicago and Austin, Texas and San Diego but Dwyer will be based in the Charleston office.
Dwyer was the Waccamaw Middle School’s fourth principal, a job he accepted after working for two years at an alternative school in West Virginia.
“I will truly miss the staff and students. I can say I have never been bored at this school,” Dwyer said, adding his decision to change careers was made after extensive thought and conversation with his wife.
District Superintendent Dr. Randy Dozier said he hopes to have a replacement at the school before Dwyer departs at the end of June.
