Van crashes into telephone pole in Litchfield

Midway Fire Rescue responded to a serious traffic accident on Highway 17 in Litchfield near the Dollar General.
A van hit a telephone pole and then ran into the woods.
The driver was conscious and alert when emergency workers arrived but was entrapped. By 3:30 p.m. he had been removed from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital. The severity of his injuries is unknown.
The telephone pole broke in half from the impact causing emergency workers to have to maneuver around dangling power lines during the extrication.
By 3:50 p.m. the accident scene was cleared.
