Two Five Points robberies under investigation

  • Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Georgetown police continue to investigate two robberies that occurred at Five Points on the same day last week.
The first occurred at about 2:50 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Georgetown Ice House.
Police were told a man wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and black gloves and a gray mask ran into the store holding a handgun.
The gunman approached a man near the cash register and said “get on the ground or I’ll shoot you.”
The victim said the robber “threw him to the ground and that is where he remained,” the report states.
The suspect then pointed the gun at a worker behind the county and shouted “give me the money.”
The man was given the money from the register. He then ran from the building.
Later that same day, at about 8:50 p.m., a robbery was reported at CVS drug store across from the Ice House.
The store manager said he was in the back of the store flattening boxes when an employee told him they had been robbed.
The worker said she was near the door of the store when a man wearing a dark hoodie covering his face walked over to an aisle and stared at her.
He then walked over and asked if they sold lottery tickets. She said “no” and that’s when he said he had a gun and demanded money.
The woman placed the cash drawer on the counter. The man picked it up and ran out the door.
The woman said she never actually saw a gun but the man said he had one in his pocket.
The area was searched but the man was not found.
Anyone with information on the robberies is urged to call police at 545-4300.
