The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this morning.
Georgetown County Deputy Coroner Paulette Radcliffe identifies the victim as 19-year-old Dequan Goss of Delmas Lane in the Georgetown  County portion of Hemingway.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, the accident happened at about 12:55 a.m. at the intersection of County Line and Bullard Roads.
Collins said Goss,  the driver of a 2004 Lincoln, left the road and struck a tree. It is unknown what caused the car to run off the road.
Goss was not wearing a seat belt and was alone in the vehicle.
A medical helicopter was initially called to the scene but was canceled once it was realized it was a fatality.
